Why we set foundations.

Module 1.3

Basecamp

From the last two activities that you have completed you will now have a list of goals that you have set for the coming week. Don't be too hard on yourself if you can not complete them, but do your best to commit to yourself and give 100% to the program - this way you will be able to get the most out of it and really see some positive changes in your life.

The reason that we don't often care for ourselves in the most foundational and basic ways is because when we hold negative beliefs about ourselves, we think that we are not worth caring for. We create what we call a negative confirmation bias against our self so that our actions confirm what we believe about ourselves.

For example, if we hold the belief that we are not worth caring for, that no one loves us and that no body cares for us, our movements and actions will follow suit and we will not care for ourselves. You are not alone in this pattern of thinking. I see many clients everyday that think the same thing, and find it extremely difficult to brush their teeth, shower daily and to even get out of bed in the mornings. If this sounds like you, know that there is so very much that you can do right now to change your entire life.

The one and only way to create lasting change to our habits and thought patterns is through movement

We can tell ourselves to do something or not do something in our minds until the cows come home but that will not do a thing to change your thoughts and behaviours. To counteract the way you think and feel about yourself, you need to move your way out of it ~ and I mean physically challenge the thought patterns by getting up and proving them wrong. Every time you engage in an act of self care you are showing that bully voice in your head that you are worth caring for because you are caring for yourself!

Every time you brush your teeth, the part of you that thinks that you are not worth caring for gets weaker. Not only that, but that part of you that knows that you are worth caring for [your true self] gets stronger and you start to get to know the real you! Watch the video below that expands on this concept a little further.

Now that you have set your goals, be sure to try and implement them over the next week.

Don't worry if you drop the ball and aren't able to do it every day. Just pick up where you left off and keep going.
